New image
[edit]Hello all, I added an image to this page as part of a short-term paid project to share images of a year of culture that was held in Leeds. There's more on the project here and more images to make use of here. Many thanks Lajmmoore (talk) 10:42, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
Old age is not about "life expectancy"
[edit]The first sentence, "Old age is the range of ages for people nearing and surpassing life expectancy" is not correct. Life expectancy is a mathematical concept that is not the same as maximum natural lifespan. If we are talking about life expectancy at birth, then it is heavily skewed by child morality. So if half of people die at 0 and the rest live to 60 then life expectancy is 30, but you would hardly call someone who's 30 "old" under those circumstances. And if we're talking about life expectancy at your current age, rather than life expectancy at birth, then it's still obviously wrong because your current age can never exceed your life expectancy at that age.
